Prisma Health Medical Group-Midlands and the University of South Carolina, Department of Pediatrics is seeking a BC/BE Pediatric Hematology/Oncology physician. The is a full-time hematology position with a focus on sickle cell disease and benign hematology. This individual would join our robust sickle cell program that includes: a full time APP, physician, social worker, nurse navigator, clinic nurses, and neuropsychologist. In addition, this individual will have the opportunity to collaborate with our upstate partners to help improve patient care and access for our pediatric and adult sickle cell patients. Currently in the midlands, we serve close to 600 patients and have an opportunity to grow this program. We recently have received state funding to support this program’s growth in collaboration with the upstate. The division has 7 physicians and 2 APPs, and a committed community philanthropic partner invested in its continued growth.

The Department of Pediatrics has a record of academic achievement and provides education to medical and physician assistant students, and pediatric residents. The department along with our freestanding Children’s Hospital presently provides 160,000 patient encounters annually with 7,500 admissions and over 35,000 pediatric emergency room visits. The department has 20 divisions, is actively growing with planned new programs and faculty hires and has been recognized as the best teaching department for almost every year in the last 30 years. While primarily teaching clinicians, some faculty are engaged in research with infrastructure support.
