The Cancer & Blood Disorders Center of Seattle Children’s Hospital and the University of Washington Department of Pediatrics is expanding clinical capacity on our inpatient unit and on our outpatient disease-based clinical teams. As such, we will be recruiting two full-time clinical oncologists based on merit, experience and interest.  The successful applicants will become members of either the Leukemia/Lymphoma team, the Solid Tumor Team, or the Neuro-Oncology Team based on clinical and clinical research expertise. Anticipated start date Summer 2023.

The Cancer & Blood Disorders Center of Seattle Children’s Hospital provides a rich and collaborative environment for basic, clinical, and translational research and boasts a diverse faculty. The Oncology Program is an integral component of the Cancer & Blood Disorders Center, and currently includes 36 faculty members, 9 fellows as well as 27 advance practice providers. Ideal candidates will have a strong record of demonstrated clinical expertise caring for Pediatric Oncology patients. The Cancer & Blood Disorders Center has close affiliations with research investigators within the Seattle Children’s Research Institute, the Fred Hutch Cancer Center, and the University of Washington. A willingness to collaborate across departmental or center boundaries is essential.

The successful applicants will have the following responsibilities:

Provide exemplary clinical service and assure that patients cared for by you receive only the highest quality care.
Clinical effort will be dependent on academic track, research interests and funding, and divided among the clinics and inpatient facilities at Seattle Children’s Hospital. The location and ratio of inpatient to outpatient clinical work may be adjusted somewhat depending upon service needs.
In collaboration with program leaders, contribute to and expand the clinical program and patient services in Oncology.
Play a role in the education and training program of the pediatric Hem/Onc/BMT Division, including access to and involvement with medical students, residents, fellows, and occasionally physicians in practice.
Mentorship of trainees and junior faculty to support growth in research and scholarship
We anticipate time will be spent on both inpatient and outpatient services.

All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service

Salary and rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor at the University of Washington will be commensurate with experience and accomplishments.

This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Additional administrative responsibilities may be offered to a specific candidate with appropriate experience and qualifications which may result in an administrative supplement (ADS).

Clinical Assistant Professors, Clinical Associate Professors and Clinical Professors hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms.  Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
