The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) invites applications for a faculty position in computational biology at the Assistant Professor Level. The successful candidate will hold an academic appointment in the Department of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School with an associated appointment in the Department of Pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital and will be based at the DFCI in the Department of Pediatric Oncology.  The candidate may also have an affiliation with the Department of Population Sciences at DFCI.

The ideal candidate will be an accomplished and innovative cancer-focused computational biologist who develops and/or uses computational approaches to understand pediatric cancer predisposition and biology in ways that can be leveraged for innovation in therapeutic and diagnostic arenas. The successful candidate will work with a world-class group of cancer biologists and pediatric oncologists toward advancing the field. Areas of focus could include, but are not limited to, analysis of next-generation sequencing data for the identification of previously unappreciated DNA, RNA or epigenomic alterations, analysis of large clinical-genomic datasets to identify or refine disease subtypes associated with treatment response and resistance, and the development of new approaches to the identification of germline cancer predisposition. There will be extensive opportunities to collaborate with oncologists, pathologists and surgeons in developing and applying new diagnostic methods to impact cancer care.

Candidates would be expected to have an interest in participating in the clinical service. Specific disease areas of interest for research and clinical care could include solid tumors and cancer predisposition.  Candidates should have an M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. degree, with a record of publishing discoveries in peer-reviewed journals and successfully competing for grant funding.

The position will be based at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center) with ample opportunity for to leverage a history of successful collaborations for faculty in Pediatric Oncology with others in the Boston bio-medical community including the Broad Institute, Boston Children’s Hospital and MIT.  Salary offered will be consistent with fair market rate and commensurate with experience.

Interested candidates should submit a curriculum vitae, 2-page research plan, and three letters of recommendation to:
