Position Description:

  • The candidate will build effective relationships with referring physicians, identify opportunities to improve patient care, and improve efficiency and effectiveness of the service.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and clinical policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate best practices and actively engage in teaching other team members and learners in the process.
  • Collaborate with others as appropriate to ensure that clinical protocols, utilization review, case management, quality assurance, and compliance programs are implemented according to hospital policies.
  • Be a part of the large and strong academic community hospitals in the region, ability to care for medically complex patients including cancer, cardiology, and intensive care.
  • The position will include clinical and administrative time allotment.
  • The Program Director will be a highly regarded clinician and academic leader with a collaborative, team-based leadership style, and the ability to build relationships and lead through influence.
  • He/she must also be operationally savvy, with the business acumen and cultural sensitivity to lead within a complex environment.
  • The Director will be responsible for clinical, academic, and administrative activities of the program and therefore must possess a breadth of skills, including deep knowledge of clinical practice; a strong commitment to training and career development of residents and faculty; and demonstrated leadership and administrative ability in the clinical enterprise.

Position Highlights:

There are specific areas of focus that provide the Director of Supportive & Palliative Care with an opportunity to bring change to the Program. The following are of particular importance:

  1. Expand supportive and palliative care services throughout the hospital system, both inpatient and outpatient.
  2. Drive quality improvement programs throughout the enterprise improving patient outcomes, patient experience and utilization metrics.
  3. Evaluate programmatic financial condition and work to drive efficiencies and effectiveness in Palliative and Supportive Care.
  4. Work closely with other service lines and and administration to develop supportive care services that are fully integrated and collaborative in the enterprise.
  5. Develop and build new signature clinical programs that distinguish the program and Orlando Health and serve patients.
  6. Ensure continued excellence in education, bringing innovation to the training programs and enhancing its attractiveness among its peers nationally.
  7. Grow the research enterprise of the program with a particular emphasis on interdisciplinary and translational clinical research programs.
  8. Recruit and develop high caliber program leaders, faculty members and residents who have a commitment to the importance of the academic missions of clinical care, education, and research.
