The Cancer & Blood Disorders Center of Seattle Children’s Hospital and the University of Washington Department of Pediatrics invites interested applicants at the rank of a full time Associate or Full Professor without tenure (WOT) on the Clinician-Scholar pathway as an Attending Physician on the Solid Tumor Team at 1.0 FTE.  Anticipated Start Date:Summer 2023

The Cancer & Blood Disorders Program of Seattle Children’s Hospital provides a rich and collaborative environment for basic, clinical, and translational research and boasts a diverse faculty. The Oncology section is an integral component of the Cancer & Blood Disorders service line center, and currently includes 52 faculty members, 9 fellows as well as 27 advance practice providers.The successful candidate will be expected to provide excellent clinical care for pediatric hematology patients and will be expected to collaborate across multiple departmental or center boundaries.. The Cancer & Blood Disorders Program includes research investigators within the Seattle Children’s Research Institute, the Fred Hutch Cancer Center, and the University of Washington. 

This position will include pursuit of scholarly activities and clinical/teaching responsibilities as part of the Solid Tumor Team in the Cancer & Blood Disorders Center at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Successful applicants will:

  • Provide clinical service and assure that patients cared for receive only the highest quality care.
  • Clinical effort will be divided among the clinics and inpatient facilities at Seattle Children’s Hospital. The location and ratio of inpatient to outpatient clinical work may be adjusted somewhat depending upon service needs. Time dedicated to clinical responsibilities will be dependent upon research interests and funding.
  • In collaboration with program leaders, the successful applicant will contribute to and expand the clinical program and patient services in Oncology.
  • Play a role in the education and training program of the pediatric Hematology/Oncology Division, including access to and involvement with medical students, residents, fellows, and occasionally physicians in practice.
  • Participate in leadership responsibilities as appropriate at the rank of Associate or Full Professor (WOT) depending on experience and interests of the applicant.
  • Participate in research activities as needed.
  • Provide mentorship of trainees and junior faculty to support growth in research and scholarship

Qualifications

Successful Candidates will have

  • MD, MD/PhD, or DO degrees (or foreign equivilent)
  • Must be Board Certified in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology.
  • Must be currently licensed as a physician and eligible for licensure as a physician in the State of Washington

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
