We are seeking a dynamic individual to join both our Ambulatory Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Infusion Center teams in the Department of Pediatrics and Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. The APP provides collaborative and multidisciplinary care with a team of attending physicians, resident and fellow trainees, nurses, and medical assistants.

The Doernbecher Infusion Center provides nearly 5,000 infusion and transfusion services per year and serves patients from the following pediatric sub-specialties:  Hematology-Oncology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Neurology, Allergy and Immunology, Pulmonology, Metabolic Diseases, Genetics, and Ophthalmology.  The APP proactively manages and improves the daily operations of the Infusion Center, including optimizing patient safety, patient volumes, space utilization, clinical workflows, and improving the family/patient care experience.  The APP provides collaborative problem-solving and support for Infusion Center nursing staff, excluding direct RN supervision.  The APP conducts pre-infusion office visits and oversees the transfusion of blood products and the infusion of chemotherapy, iron, IV IgG and other pharmaceutical agents.  The APP manages acute clinical issues that may arise in the Infusion Center, including infusion reactions and anaphylaxis, and ensures that all orders are complete and signed.

The APP will have numerous opportunities to become involved in quality improvement work, education, research, and childhood advocacy. Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, the Department of Pediatrics, and the Division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology are committed to developing our faculty members’ careers. A pathway for academic appointment to the professorial series was recently implemented at OHSU.

Professional participation is expected, including attendance in relevant educational conferences and didactic conferences.

About Oregon Health and Science University
With a strong tradition of teamwork, diversity and interdisciplinary care, we believe all children deserve the best. At Doernbecher, we built a hospital around that belief. It’s why we have more specialists in children’s health than anywhere else in the state. We offer the newest and most advanced treatments available, along with innovative collaborations and research opportunities. As Oregon’s only academic health center, we strive to offer the best medical care to every child across Oregon, Southwest Washington and beyond. OHSU's singular focus on improving health starts with Oregonians and has global impact. We are the only academic health center in Oregon, but we're also nationally distinct as a university dedicated solely to advancing health sciences. This allows us to concentrate resources on research to prevent and cure disease, on education that prepares physicians, dentists, nurses and other health professionals to succeed in an evolving health care environment, and on patient care that incorporates the latest knowledge and discoveries. We have 16,000 employees and secure competitive research funding of more than $400 million a year. As a public organization, we provide... community outreach and services for Oregon's most vulnerable populations. OHSU’s stated mission to improve the health and quality of life for all Oregonians through excellence, innovation and leadership in health care, education and research.
