Discover Your Career at Emory University

Emory University is a leading research university that fosters excellence and attracts world-class talent to innovate today and prepare leaders for the future. We welcome candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our academic community.

Description

Postdoctoral positions are based at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA), which provides advanced diagnostic and clinical care, as well as innovative treatment and research options to children, adolescents and young adults from birth to age 21. The Pediatric Psychology Postdoctoral Residency is affiliated with the Emory University School of Medicine Postdoctoral Residency Program in Health Service Psychology, which is a member of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC).

About the Postdoct

oral Residency: Both positions offer advanced clinical training in Hematology/Oncology, in which the postdoctoral resident will be exposed to a wide variety of pediatric subspecialties, including: Oncology, Neuro-Oncology, Childhood Cancer Survivorship, Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT), Sickle Cell Disease, and Hemophilia. During the course of the academic year, the residents will provide consultation-liaison services to inpatient and outpatient interdisciplinary teams; deliver short term evidence-based therapy for children, adolescents and family members; and participate in advanced training seminars. Additionally, at least two six-month clinic rotations will be available based on preferred areas of focus, which will be determined at the start of fellowship with the help of mentors and faculty supervisors. Available clinic rotations include: brain tumor survivorship, cancer survivorship, sickle cell teen transition, sickle cell chronic pain, sickle cell neurology, hemophilia, and psychological/neuropsychological evaluations. The resident also will have the opportunity to supervise graduate students and participate in clinical research activities. A variety of current psychological research opportunities are available in cancer survivorship, sickle cell disease, and neuro-oncology during the first year. Up to 50% protected time will be made available to qualified candidates interested in pursuing research during the second year. Professional development funds are available to support travel to conferences or specialty training.

The anticipated start date for residency will fall between August 1 and September 18, 2023. Details about these opportunities and the application process can be found at our website: http://psychiatry.emory.edu/education/psychology/professional_psychology/index.html

Applicants must have: completed an APA-accredited psychology doctoral program and internship; training in pediatric psychology; and have interest and experience in a scientist-practitioner-advocate model of psychology.
