Clinical Instructor - Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for supervising the Infusion center at Stony Brook Cancer Center.

The APP will report to the Division Chief of Hematology/Oncology. Responsibilities may include all or some of the following:

? Manage infusion reactions and treat as appropriate.
? Review infusion orders for clarity and modify as necessary.
? Independently assess and evaluate patients in the infusion clinic of Stony Brook Cancer Center who present with new or progressive symptoms/signs.
? Review, evaluate, and make recommendations regarding laboratory findings for patients seen in the infusion center.
? Manage complications of chemotherapy including writing/editing chemotherapy orders.
? Manage outpatient phone calls including toxicity assessments and recommendations.
? Provide coverage and management for sick walk-ins.
? Educate patients and family members regarding chemotherapy toxicities.
? Knowledge of basic software packages and hospital information systems (EMR).
? Additional responsibilities may also be required as the position evolves over time.


Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Nurse Practitioner: Current NYS RN license. Master’s degree in Nursing. NYS license and certification as an Adult and/or Family Nurse ppractitioner.

Physician Assistant: NYS License and certification as a Physician Assistant. Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of PA's.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in the management and treatment of cancer patients. Excellent communication skills. Experience with chemotherapy toxicities and infusion reactions.
