Description

The Department of Pediatrics, Rhode Island Hospital (RIH)/Hasbro Children’s Hospital (HCH) and Alpert Medical School of Brown University are excited to announce the following Pediatric Hematology/Oncology faculty position:

Attending Physician, Hematologic Malignancies

Responsibilities include hematology/oncology patient care, teaching and mentorship of medical students, residents, and pediatric hematology/oncology fellows. All faculty will be expected to pursue scholarly activities in clinical or laboratory research, public health, or education, with the support of the HCH mentoring program, and senior faculty will be expected to continue these activities.

HCH is the only pediatric tertiary care center in Rhode Island and serves as the primary pediatric teaching facility for the Brown Medical School.  We offer multidisciplinary comprehensive programs including hemophilia and bleeding disorders, hemoglobinopathies, general hematology, hematologic malignancies, solid and CNS tumors as well as cancer genetics and childhood cancer survivorship.

HCH is an active member of the Children’s Oncology Group and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute ALL Consortium and several other national and international consortia.  In addition, the division supports a wide array of therapeutic and non-therapeutic trials for children with cancer and blood disorders including early phase clinical trials.  The division has an excellent ACGME-accredited pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship program accepting one new fellow each year for three-year fellowships.

The candidate would join a fully staffed and growing multidisciplinary team that includes 8 physicians, 7 NPs/PA and a dedicated nursing, psychosocial and support staff that ensures high quality, expert care for our patients.  Clinical, correlative, and translational laboratory research efforts will be supported.  The position will be afforded protected time for research or education as appropriate to the successful applicant’s interests and experience.

Application Instructions

Please submit a CV and cover letter to Rishi R. Lulla, MD MS  - Division Director, Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at rishi_lulla@brown.edu.  Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

Brown University and its affiliated teaching hospitals are equal opportunity (EEO/AA) employers and are committed to increasing the diversity of its faculty. The hospital and the university welcome nominations and applications from minorities, women, and individuals with varied experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds, which would enrich the university's research, teaching and service missions.

Qualifications

Candidates must qualify for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Minimum requirements include board eligibility or certification in Pediatric Hematology/ Oncology, a strong clinical background in pediatrics and pediatric hematology/oncology, and excellence in patient care, research and/or teaching.   For faculty seeking appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, evidence of significant clinical experience and/or a high-quality research program and a national reputation are required.
