In compliance with applicable New York and New Jersey State regulatory authorities, COVID-19 vaccination (2 doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine) is mandatory for all MSK employees, contingent workers, and volunteers. Exceptions are permitted for those employees who request and receive an approved medical or fully remote exemption.

*Staff working at a MSK New Jersey location must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, which includes having completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series and booster once eligible as mandated by New Jersey State. All New Jersey staff not yet eligible for a booster must receive a booster within 3 weeks of becoming eligible as a condition of continued employment at MSK.

Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) Fellowship - Pediatric Hematology/Oncology

The MSK APP Fellowship Background

The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center's (MSK) Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship program provides Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants the opportunity to train at one of the top cancer centers in the United States. This Fellowship Program began over 40 years ago in Hospice and Palliative Care with one APP Fellow and now accepts over fifteen APP Fellows in six distinct disciplines. The Fellows are mentored by an interdisciplinary team of experienced oncology clinicians serving patients from around the world.

The MSK APP Fellowship Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide an oncology-intensive postgraduate academic program for the APP that promotes collaborative, high-quality, evidence-based, and compassionate patient-centered care to a diverse patient population in alignment with the institutional mission of MSK. The MSK APP Fellow will participate in clinical skills practicums, research, didactic learning, and clinical rotations on medical and surgical oncology and consultative services. Upon graduation from the Fellowship, the APP will be proficient in the delivery of exceptional comprehensive care of the oncology patient.

The Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) Fellowship - Pediatric Hematology/Oncology

The first half of the program consists of three, equal-length rotations in the Pediatric Inpatient, Pediatric Ambulatory Care Center (PACC), and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The second half of the program will allow the fellow to choose an area (or areas) of focus. The fellows will be guided by experienced preceptors, managers, and the fellowship director.

Clinical Fellow responsibilities will include:

• Obtaining patient health histories
• Performing comprehensive physical assessments
• Ordering and analyzing laboratory and diagnostic studies
• Formulating and implementing treatment plans
• Coordinating patient care
• Evaluating the patient's response to treatment plans

Rotations

Pediatric Outpatient: The Pediatric Ambulatory Care Center (PACC) is a comprehensive APP-run clinic that serves patients in the ambulatory care setting. Fellows will have the opportunity to experience various patient visit types, including new patient visits, established care visits for routine management, and urgent care visits. Routine management of the pediatric hematology/oncology patient may include symptom management and/or treatment with high-dose chemotherapy or immunotherapy. The fellow will provide direct clinical services for acute and chronic illness management in the areas of Pediatric Solid Tumors and Pediatric Hematologic Malignancies in collaboration with attending physicians.

Pediatric Inpatient: At Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the APP-driven model in Pediatric Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapies, Pediatric Surgery, and Pediatric Pain and Palliative Care (PACT) promotes autonomous management of patients in these areas of clinical practice. The fellow will provide direct clinical services for acute illness management in these areas in collaboration with attending physicians. The goal of this rotation is to provide comprehensive training in these areas to promote safe, patient-centered care to this specialized patient population.

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU): While rotating within the PICU, the APP fellow will provide direct clinical services for the evaluation and management of critically ill pediatric hematology/oncology patients in collaboration with pediatric intensivists and the multidisciplinary team. Our vision is to enhance and promote the transition of the new APP into practice while providing comprehensive education and training specific to pediatric critical care medicine.

Eligibility & Requirements

You are a highly motivated critical thinker with a strong desire to care for a diverse pediatric population. You are interested in utilizing comprehensive pediatric assessments and research to improve outcomes for cancer patients and caregivers. You are empathetic, resourceful, communicate well, and enjoy working inter-professionally. You are seeking a fellowship position in an environment that fosters mutual respect, leadership, ethical decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving.

Applicants must be trained at the master's level as an:

• Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
• Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
• Family Nurse Practitioners
• Physician Assistant

All applicants must:

• Have current New York State RN and NP licenses, or PA license and appropriate NP/PA board certification
• Be graduates of an accredited Nursing, Nurse Practitioner, and/or Physician Assistant program in the United States
