For the Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplantation (BMT)/Immunotherapy fellowship, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology Oncology are jointly recruiting a full-time faculty member at the Research Associate/Acting Instructor level. This is a full-time, 12-month service period, annual appointment. The primary appointment will be in the Clinical Research Division of Fred Hutch.

The Fred Hutch, home of three Nobel laureates, is an independent, nonprofit research institution dedicated to the development and advancement of biomedical research to eliminate cancer and other potentially fatal diseases. Recognized internationally for its pioneering work in BMT and immunotherapy, Fred Hutch and the UW provide a unique environment for conducting translational research and clinical care. The Fred Hutch, in collaboration with its clinical and research partners, the UW and Seattle Children’s, is a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center.

At Fred Hutch, we believe that the innovation, collaboration, and rigor that result from diversity and inclusion are critical to our mission of eliminating cancer and related diseases. We seek employees who bring different and innovative ways of seeing the world and solving problems. Fred Hutch is in pursuit of becoming an antiracist organization. We are committed to ensuring that all candidates hired share our commitment to diversity, antiracism, and inclusion.

The selected individual for the advertised position is expected to participate in a year-long fellowship program with the goal of becoming an expert in BMT and Immunotherapy. This position will rotate through outpatient Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation (HCT) services (autologous and allogeneic transplant, immunotherapy, Long Term Follow Up) and on the inpatient transplant service initially as a primary care provider with increasing levels of independent patient care responsibility over the course of the year.  Exposure to some of our unique clinical programs, including non-malignant transplantation, high risk leukemia, and survivorship, will be part of the learning experience as well.  Approximately 75% of the year will be devoted to clinical activities with the remaining time available for the opportunity to participate in clinically focused research projects, which will be determined based on identification of mentors and projects. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

Anticipated start date: July 1, 2022.
