The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/BMT at the Medical College of Wisconsin is recruiting a Director of Pediatric Neuro-oncology.  We seek an outstanding leader recognized for expertise in clinical or translational science, who can guide the further growth of this program.

The Pediatric Brain Tumor Program at Children’s Wisconsin (CW) is a well-funded program with regionally recognized expertise.  Significant resources are available to support further programmatic development.   The interdisciplinary program that this individual will lead is comprised of medical and surgical subspecialists including a second pediatric neuro-oncologist (who has ongoing laboratory and clinical initiatives), nurse coordinators, nurse practitioners, child life specialists, social workers, psychologists, dietitians, and rehabilitation specialists.  Pediatric Neurosurgeons (4), dedicated CAQd Pediatric Neuroradiologists (4) and other clinical and laboratory collaborations support this program.  Facilities include a Positron Emission Tomography (PET)-MRI, a pediatric Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), and a dedicated 18-bed pediatric neuroscience and rehabilitation unit with a comprehensive neuro-rehabilitation gym.   A large Clinical Trials Office, a Clinical and Translational Science Institute, a Genomics Sciences & Precision Medicine Center, a vibrant pediatric immunotherapy program, and a dedicated cohort of PhD scientists support our investigators.

We are dedicated to excellent patient care and expanding therapeutic opportunities through early phase clinical trials. Recruitment of an oncologist with interest in translational or laboratory research in brain tumors is essential for further programmatic growth. Substantial resources and protected time are available to support the development of a vibrant research program.  Additional leadership opportunities may be available based on experience.

The Pediatric Cancer Program at Children’s Wisconsin, in Milwaukee, is one of the premiere childhood cancer and hematology programs in the Midwest, serving infants, children, adolescents and young adults with cancer and blood disorders. Our MACC Fund Center at Children’s Wisconsin provides care for the majority of children with cancer in the state. We have a 24-bed inpatient unit, an outpatient clinic, and a day hospital staffed by more than 20 pediatric hematologist-oncologists, and 7 Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Fellows. In most recent years, we have been the highest COG enroller in the Midwest.  In addition, we are an institutional member of several phase 1 consortia and have 20-30 investigator-initiated early phase clinical trials open for accrual.

Candidates should be board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Experience as a practicing neuro-oncologist and/or formal pediatric neuro-oncology fellowship training is preferred but not required. Additionally, candidates should have experience in conducting translational or laboratory based research in pediatric oncology focused on neuro- oncology. Candidates will be expected to have or to develop an externally funded research program.

A competitive compensation package and an academic appointment commensurate with training and experience are available. For consideration, please apply online here: https://www.mcw.edu/Human-Resources/Career-Opportunities.htm
