The Division of Hematology/Oncology at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, seeks a full time, board certified pediatric hematologist/oncologist with an interest in benign hematology to join the existing division of 22 faculty, 6 fellows and 12 advanced practice providers. We are seeking a faculty candidate who has the interest in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with benign hematology conditions, including an interest in immunohematology/WBC disorders and hemostasis/thrombosis. Experience in research and programmatic development would be of interest as we seek to develop our programs in hemostasis/thrombosis and immunohematology. Responsibilities will include clinical care, teaching, and participation in clinical research. The candidate will be an integral and interactive member of the Division of Hematology/Oncology/BMT in the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders and participate in inpatient and outpatient management of hematology patients.
Our Center is the major referral center in the Southwestern region and we see approximately 500 new hematology patients per year. We currently have a large hematology patient population with close to 400 congenital bleeding disorder patients followed at our federally-funded Hemophilia Treatment Center, over 250 sickle cell/thalassemia patients, and about 100 new thrombosis patients per year. We currently have multi-disciplinary clinics for hemophilia and other congenital bleeding disorders, immunohematology, sickle cell/thalassemia, and other chronically transfused patients with various diagnoses including bone marrow failure and RBC enzyme deficiencies. The hematology team is a multidisciplinary team, committed to providing state-of-the-art care to the patients of the Southwest. We also have active clinical and laboratory research programs, with many clinical trials open for our patients. This is a growing population and we are looking for someone who desires to continue to expand and develop this program.
The successful candidate must be board certified in pediatric hematology-oncology and an interest in hematology. Applicants should have the ability to work with teams on patient focused, division-centric, and hospital wide initiatives. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience. Phoenix Children’s Hospital is a 433 bed facility that provides comprehensive tertiary and quaternary care, and serves patients from the Southwest, the US and all over the world. With 18 clinic rooms, a 21 bay Ambulatory Infusion Center and 46 bed inpatient unit, our hematology services include comprehensive, family centered care focusing on the clinical and psychosocial needs of the child.
