The Department of Pediatrics, Rhode Island Hospital (RIH)/Hasbro Children's Hospital (HCH) and Alpert Medical School of Brown University are excited to announce A PEDIATRIC HEMATOLOGIST/ONCOLOGIST faculty position. Applicants with active clinical trial research experience in hematology or lymph hematopoietic malignancies are preferred. The successful applicant will be based at HCH in Providence, RI. Responsibilities include hematology/oncology patient care, teaching and mentorship of medical students, residents and pediatric hematology/oncology fellows. Junior faculty will be expected to pursue scholarly activities in clinical or laboratory research or education, with the support of the HCH mentoring program, and more senior faculty will be expected to continue these activities.
HCH is the only pediatric tertiary care center in RI and serves as the primary pediatric teaching facility for the Medical School. Clinically, multidisciplinary comprehensive programs include hemophilia and bleeding disorders, sickle cell disease and other hemoglobinopathies, leukemia/lymphoma, solid tumors, neuro-oncology, childhood cancer survivorship, and adolescent and young adult oncology. There is a 340B supported regional hemophilia program. RIH/HCH is an active member of COG participating in the pediatric Central IRB. The Division is a member of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Consortium and actively participates in its therapeutic protocols. The Division has a very well reputed ACGME-accredited pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship program accepting one new fellow each year for three-year fellowships. HCH supports Pediatric, Internal Medicine/Pediatrics, and Pediatric/Psychiatry/Pediatric Psychiatry residency programs.
The candidate would join a fully staffed multidisciplinary team that includes 7 physicians, 5 NPs/PA and a full team of RNs, SWs and behavioral health support that ensures very high quality, family-focused care. Faculty members hold leadership positions in national regional consortia for oncology, pediatric sickle cell disease and childhood cancer survivorship. Clinical, correlative and translational laboratory research efforts will be supported. The position will be afforded a minimum of 20% protected time for research or education as appropriate to the successful applicant’s interests and experience.

Candidates must qualify for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate Professor or Full Professor at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Minimum requirements include board eligibility or certification in Pediatric Hematology/ Oncology, a strong clinical background in pediatrics and pediatric hematology/oncology, and excellence in patient care and teaching. For faculty seeking appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, evidence of significant clinical experience and/or a high quality research program and a national reputation are required.
